This is a lot of money for a gilet, so what do you get for your dough? First off, the cut and fit is 'athletic', which means it's on the small side though curiously the back length is spot on - presumably Timberland assume we're all tall and slim.
The face fabrics used on some insulated producs have the nasty handle of a packet of crisps, so the soft and comfy feel of the Howker gets a thumbs up from us. Feature wise, this is a bulky, warm gilet and does not pack down particularly small so we reckon it's better suited to resort-based winter sports rather than off the beaten track adventures where you would have to carry it. You get plently of pockets, including an MP3 friendly inner pouch, but this is not a technical product where warmth/weight/packsize are not premium. Nice for wearing around the office though.
