With the world (okay, the UK) coming to a stop once again due to a couple of flakes of snow we thought it about time to make you better acquainted with the white stuff. So, you know it's white, fun to play around in and gets you a day off work now and again but I bet you didn't know these five facts about snow.

Snowfall can be beneficial to agriculture by serving as a thermal insulator, conserving the heat of the Earth and protecting crops from subfreezing weather. Some agricultural areas depend on an accumulation of snow during winter that will melt gradually in spring, providing water for crop growth. If it melts into water and refreezes upon sensitive crops, such as oranges, the resulting ice will protect the fruit from exposure to lower temperatures
It's wet, it's tasteless and it's one essential you can't do without
A healthy adult can go three weeks without food, but will die horribly after only three days without water. If you fail to drink, no amount of moisturiser is going to stop you wrinkling and shrivelling up like a raisin. So whether you're stuck in a genuine survival situation, or just want to preserve a smooth complexion like the girls in the ads, finding the stuff you drink is always likely to be priority number one.
