If you've ever been to Kathmandu or Marrakesh then you'll be well aware of the fake brand products on offer. Rolex for a £5; North Face Jackets for £15; Nike trainers for a tenner, and so on. Well, the EU is now upping the anti as it appears more of these products are on sale in Europe and in some countries you can be fined up to £260,000 for buying them.
A press release just put out by the authorities via the BBC is full of rent-a-quote, scare the crap out of 'em spinmeisters, and it reads like this;
Buff up your wilderness skills with survival guru A J Daley
Choosing a campsite and pitching a tent are unavoidable in places where there are no other forms of accommodation or shelter, unless your name is Ray Mears.
Groupies of the khaki clad superhero will need nothing more than a couple of small sticks and a ball of string to put up a three storey palace with en-suite hot tubs and four poster beds within minutes. The rest of us will need a tent and, if possible, someone else to assemble it.
A J Daley offers a leg up into the hard core scrambling scene.
Scrambling is what you do when you head into the countryside and walk on all fours. Essentially, that’s it, there’s nothing in the British Mountaineering Council Manual that says you have to scramble up a hill or cliff face.
With that in mind first time scramblers may want to take note of how the professionals do it and check out a few dogs, cats, cows etc and then practice on the shag pile in the living room before taking on the rough and tumble of the outdoors.
